This fast rising singer-songwriter (just 19) from the Scottish Borders has launched her debut EP to a 'packed to barely standing' Jazz Bar in Edinburgh in January where The Scotsman wrote:
'bound for bigger and better things'
'...her songwriting is well-developed and supportive of a voice which is her strongest asset, a huskily mature sound with a tone and personality pitched somewhere between folk and rock'
Not only do her arresting vocals mesmerise her audiences, her unique and strikingly poetic lyrics are perfectly matched by the melodies. "I write about whatever is happening around me at the time; from my pet goose going missing, to miserable people, to friendships and relationships."
An easy comparison to make would be KT Tunstall although Beth Orton is a less contemporary but perhaps a more appropriate match. Performing from the age of 15 and tweeted by The Scotsman after Celtic Connections 'already a star in the making' she was asked back again this year.
Elba Studios asked her over to do some recording in Glasgow courtesy of Creative Scotland's project Demo Fund and we can't wait to release the outcome.
October 2013 found her shortlisted as one of five finalists in Radio Forth One's One to Watch. Supporting We Were Promised Jetpacks at Tweedlove festival has been a highlight along with gigging in the States in the Summer of 2011.
Georgia insisted on reading poems at bedtime as a child instead of storybooks. The usual piano lessons at 7 led to guitar at 12 and then to song writing which grew out of her love for poetry. The beautiful surroundings of the Scottish Borders where she grew up have been a strong influence and are reflected in her writing.
