Black and White Boy - In The Dark (Acoustic)

about

Three and a half years on from rustling out of Ayrshire, Scotland with his eclectic and unique take on how to write a good pop song - Andrew Nicol of Black and White Boy finds himself in the laborious situation where after half a dozen baby steps into the mainstream - the curtain has beckoned and the lights are finally sauntering over him. Having had the most humble of beginnings from performing on DIY bills in the town centre of Ayr to the fantastic debut LP release of 'Fragile' last year, Black and White Boy have earned themselves a chance at the big time.

Growing up on a plethora of records from timeless acts such as Crowded House, Ryan Adams and more recently Band Of Horses, it should come as no surprise that there is a moody elegance to be found from within the bench press of Black and White Boy's music. Mixing a diligence of nostalgic chords into a quantum sized treading of personal sadness; Nicol has preserved an enigmatic presence of originality and captivity into a genre of music which can so often meander into a mundane monotonous cave of reciprocated sounds.

Currently working on second album tentatively titled 'The Avenue' with Paul McInally at 45 A-Side studios in Glasgow, Nicol has expressed his belief that the new tracks will represent a more harmonious and hopeful outlook on life experiences, hinting towards a contrasting hindsight outlook on the deep despair and neglectfulness found within 'Fragile'. With new tracks comes of course the expectation to play more shows - something Black and White Boy take great pride in, bringing an authentic and honest approach to a live setting experience. - Chris Kelman (The List/Rave Child)
